Biggest Mobile Network in the world

source
The biggest mobile carrier in the world comes from the distant land of China, and is called China Mobile! China Mobile serves the spectacular number of 703.46 million customers (data from November 2012) - more than twice the population of the Unites States. Isn't that amazing? The world's largest mobile carrier is owned by the state of China, and as such is controlled by the Chinese government. China Mobile is created at the end of the 20th century, when it gets separated from the currently third-biggest operator in the country - China Telecom, which is also state-owned.

But if China Mobile is the biggest, and China Telecom is the third-biggest carrier in the People's Republic of China, then who is in the middle? The answer is China Unicom - yet another state-owned carrier.

So where do our well-known US carriers fit into the whole picture? Right now, the biggest US carrier, Verizon Wireless, is 19th in the global carrier rank-list by number of subscribers (108.7 million), while AT&T Mobility is 21st with 107 million. Unfortunately, both Sprint and T-Mobile USA are not in the top 30 of the global rank-list, signaling that the attempted merger between AT&T and T-Mobile may have indeed been a bad idea!

Samsung did not infringe Apple patents willfully

Apple won't be receiving any additional damages for willful infringement as it had hoped. However, it's important to remember that just because the willfulness has been overturned, the $1.049 billion infringement verdict itself hasn't. That said, Koh could in theory reduce the damages Samsung owes, though she has yet to offer any rulings to that effect at this time.

The willfulness finding followed a bevy of other rulings in connection with the case, with Judge Koh otherwise hewing closely to the jury's own findings — including a refusal to ramp up damages on several other grounds as Apple had requested. One exception was Samsung's '941 standards-essential patent, which covers wireless packet transmission.Judge Koh ruled that claims 10 and 15 of the patent were invalid — something the jury felt Apple hadn't proved. Since Apple wasn't found to have infringed on said patent claims in the first place, however, Koh's judgment has no immediate impact on this particular case.Source

The LG Nexus 4

source
This is the image of the new LG Nexus 4.

According to the EXIF data on the image, the picture was taken with an LG Optimus G last week. This may mean the image is coming from someone within LG, or it may not mean anything. It certainly looks like a white Nexus 4, and you can even see the reflective pattern on the bottom right that was a distinctive feature of the black Nexus 4.

The Sony Xperia™ Z

Soon to be seen in the market, another from Sony, the Xperia™ Z
Let us see what this smartphone bring to us..

Display
Xperia Z brings you the highest level of HD available – 1080 progressive scan, for incredibly crisp pictures and no jagged edges. Expertise from our BRAVIA® TV engineers goes into our mobile screens, to bring you the same quality you’d expect from a top quality HDTV. The 5” full HD Reality Display also has very high pixel density – 443 pixels per inch, for razor sharp pictures – and superior brightness.
Source

Camera
HDR for photos and videos captures natural colours in any light. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is an imaging technology used to capture clear photos against strong backlight. With HDR, the camera captures the same image at different exposure levels and layers them to create one optimised photo.

Design and Durability
This construction, along with a new component layout and skeleton frame allows for a slimness of 7.9 mm.

Water and dust resistant

We tested this Android mobile to make sure it can keep going even after 30 minutes under water. It can even withstand water jets. The high IP55 & IP57 rating means you can use it in the rain, take photos by the pool and easily clean it off from everyday spills and dirt.

We even put Xperia Z in a dust chamber for rigorous testing, to make sure its operations were unaffected.

Connectivity
Sharing with friends and connecting your world has never been easier. Based on NFC (near field communication), our One-touch functions connect one device to another in a single tap. No wires, cables, or fiddling with settings necessary.

Processor and Battery
Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor. This advanced quad core processor gives you maximum performance and speed without draining your battery – run multiple apps simultaneously, surf the web with no loading time, and stream videos without a break. The Snapdragon S4 Pro processor is asynchronous, which means each core is powered up and down independently.
Significantly improve battery life with Battery STAMINA mode

Smartphones use a lot of power, even when you’re not actively using them. All those apps that you’ve had open are still running in the background, using unnecessary battery. Battery STAMINA mode saves you wasted battery drain by recognising when your display is off and turning off functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want. As soon as you touch the screen and wake up your phone, everything is up and running again.

The BlackBerry Z10 to cost £480 SIM-free

Source
According to the Carphone Warehouse, the BlackBerry Z10 will cost £480 (about $760). The listing in the company's database clearly shows the pricing of the white variant of the smartphone and the attached BLAZ10WHI product code too aligns nicely with the earlier leaks from the retailer.
The leaked price is said to be for a SIM-free version and the smartphone will naturally be available for far less on contract.
RIM might have somewhat hard time impressing the audience at its January 30 event. After so many leaks there's hardly much left to announce, but hopefully the company will have a few more aces up its sleeve.

The Pornographic video clip on Twitter's Vine

Source
The app for iPhone and iPod Touch lets anyone create and share six-second clips, but it also has become a popular venue for male genitalia and pornographic movies taped off TVs and laptops. As first pointed out last night by The New York Times' Nick Bilton, searches for #porn, #sex, and other associated tags brings up a handful of videos featuring male exhibitionism and other activity.

While Vine's terms of service don't expressly forbid sexually explicit content, Twitter does encourage users to use good judgment when posting content:

Vine users can flag videos they find offensive. If clips receive enough complaints, Twitter will add a warning still to the beginning of the video that users have to bypass to see the clip.

The Logitech UE 6000 Headphones

Source
First on the list of tuned upgrades is the design. The UE 6000 are ultra-sleek, uniquely styled, and feature multiple textures of materials and finishes that not only look great, but also contribute in giving the UE 6000 their premium feeling and wow factor. Like the UE 4000, the UE 6000 are available in two different color combinations, black and white. The white model we have here is absolutely gorgeous. One would even go so far as to say that the UE 6000 are genuinely a work of art. You'll notice a modern motif of really awesome color combinations throughout the UE 6000 of vibrant blues, glossy whites and matte textured blacks. There's even a gray colored brushed aluminum inlay where the headband meets the white plastic driver enclosures, which adds that little touch of detail that displays the attention to detail and quality offered by the UE 6000.

They say don't judge a book by its cover, but you can instantly tell these headphones are super comfortable by just looking at them. And so they are. Over-ear headphones are designed to provide you with the best possible wearability and immersive sound experience, which the UE 6000 manage to fulfill these requirements and then some. The fluffy ear cushions are so full of memory foam goodness, they actually make up half of the UE6000's rather large and profound construction.

In addition to the detachable and anti-tangle free properties of the audio cable, there's also an in-line 3-button remote and mic, which is compatible with iOS devices such as the iPhone 5 to name the most relevant Apple gadget you'd be using. This is the same type of remote and mic Logitech embedded in the UE 4000, which means it's just as awesome to use and performs above expectations. Buttons are positioned in a sensible fashion with tactile feedback, and allow you to control music playback like adjusting volume, skip tracks, play and pause. You can also answer incoming calls, bring up and interact with Siri - all thru the while you have an incredibly clear and quality mic to work with.

We all expect $200 headphones to sound good if not great. And the UE 6000 satisfy that exact sweet tooth with great sound quality. As expected, the UE 6000 sound clearer and more detailed than the $100 UE 4000. The midrange also sounds better and more pronounced even though the drivers are essentially the same size at 40mm, albeit those found in the UE 6000 are apparently custom-built and tuned using lasers. Logitech claims the UE 6000 have a wide-open soundstage which isn't all too accurate when put up against the slightly superior sounding $250 TMA-1 Studio by AIAIAI. That said however, the UE 6000 do have a really clean and clear sound signature that's rich but not overly intense. These definitely have the right sound signature that'll suit just about everyone's music taste.

    The ZTE Avid 4G

    What you should know:
With its uninspiring, black-slab aesthetic, you won't turn any heads with the ZTE Avid 4G. Its sharply rounded top corners and curved, tapered bottom edge make it look like it's half the ZTE Score M and half the Anthem 4G. It measures 4.88 inches tall and 2.58 inches wide, and it has a trim, 0.47-inch profile. At 5.25 ounces, it is a bit on the heavy side, but it fits comfortably in front jean pockets, and you can maneuver it easily with just one hand.
On the left are a micro-USB port and a silver, easy-to-press volume rocker. Up top are a power/sleep button and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The back houses a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash. To the right of it are two small slits for the output speaker. In the lower right-hand corner is an indent you can use to pry off the backplate. Inside, you'll get ahold of the 1,730mAh battery and expandable microSD card slot. The plate is made out of a lightweight plastic coated in a matte finish that limits the visibility of fingerprint smudges.

    What it offers:
Though the Avid features Ice Cream Sandwich and operates on MetroPCS 4G network, the carrier has other LTE devices that are faster, smoother, and sometimes, even cheaper.

    The advantage:
The ZTE Avid 4G has LTE connectivity, runs on Android 4.0, and requires no contract.

    The unfavorable:
The Avid 4G's display can be unresponsive and it has a noticeably blue tint; call quality is mediocre; and the phone's processor is slow.

The Galaga Special Edition for Android

    What you should know:
Galaga Special Edition for Android may sound like a retro enthusiast's dream come true, but it's not. This "Special Edition" free download fails to deliver on its name and also has quite a few disappointing imperfections.
One thing we can all remember about playing the original Galaga standup arcade game was its uniquely frustrating fixed-shooter style of gameplay. The game allowed you to move left and right, but not forward or backward. Meanwhile, enemies would come swirling in from the sides and top of the screen and eventually settle into a battle formation in the center, where you could then pick them off with your ship's puny gun. Galaga Special Edition for Android, on the other hand, has very little in common with this fading memory that many of us share.

    What it offers:
Whether you're yearning for some '80s arcade action or shopping for a new-school top-down shooter, Galaga Special Edition is a disappointment.
    The advantage:
Galaga Special Edition adds a Challenges menu that provides a nice break from some otherwise repetitive gameplay.
    The unfavorable:
The game barely resembles its iconic arcade predecessor. Performance issues sometimes cause freezes.

    The LG 55LA8600

LG had announced a pair of five-figure TVs already, one OLED and another 4K, but among models mortals can afford, its flagship 2013 series of LED-based LCD TVs is the LA8600. Available in a 60- and 55-inch size, it will feature all of the latest tricks including an onboard, retractable camera.

Unlike Samsung's camera, LG's won't initially support gesture control. LG says it will be used mainly Skype integration and possibly other camera-specific apps.

Aside from the camera, the LA8600 is basically identical to the LA7400 series [NEEDS LINK]. Both feature a 240Hz refresh rate, an edge-lit LED backlight with local dimming, passive 3D and all of the company's latest Smart TV features.

Sony expands touch enabled VAIO® ULTRABOOK™ LINE

Sony updated its top-selling VAIO® T Series Ultrabook™ line with an optional touchscreen for the T Series 14 Ultrabook and the new Full HD, touch-enabled T Series 15, both allowing consumers to experience Windows 8 in a clamshell form factor. The T Series incorporates Sony’s innovative digital imaging and audio technologies, and packs high performance and mobility into a stylishly slim magnesium and aluminum design for daily trips to the office or campus.

The new touch enabled VAIO T Series 14 and T Series 15 will be available in Spring for about $800 and $950 at Sony retail stores and other authorized dealers nationwide.

SONY HAD INTRODUCED NEW, VERSATILE HANDYCAM CAMCORDERS

Making its Handycam® debut, all new camcorders now offer the option of recording HD video in either top-quality AVCHD or web-friendly MP4 formats. While AVCHD offers the highest-quality picture for viewing on an HDTV or burning to a Blu-ray™ Disc for archiving, shooting crisply-detailed clips using the popular bandwidth-saving MP4 format is perfect for online sharing and easy uploads to social media web sites.

In another Handycam® first, an optional Wi-Fi adaptor simplifies cable-free transfers of video clips and still photos. Consumers can even step away from behind the camcorder and control the video capture device remotely with their compatible smartphone.

“As the leader in this category, each year we strive to improve upon our feature-rich camcorder family and innovate in ways that provide value to consumers,” said Hidenori Toyoda, director of the camcorder business at Sony Electronics. “We’ve been listening to what people say they want in a premium video camera and continue to deliver on that feedback.”

The new Handycam® camcorder portfolio now integrates more advanced features from entry level to high end, including Sony’s hallmark Exmor R® CMOS image sensor for beautifully clear, detailed video and stills, even in tricky low-light conditions. Sony’s unique Balanced Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization will be deployed in more new models for up to 13 times more stable and smooth footage than its predecessors. This powerful image stabilizer makes it much easier to shoot crisp blur-free images in a range of challenging situations using a floating lens unit which controls the entire optical path, including the image sensor.

Sony New Camera lenses for Wide-Angle and Telephoto Models

Designed for serious videographers, the high-quality lens offers a generous 11x magnification range and whisper-quiet power zoom mechanics, focusing and aperture operation. This allows for smooth cinematic transitions when adjusting zoom level or manual settings during shooting. It features a comfortably positioned zoom lever that works with a switch on the lens barrel, allowing zoom speed to be selected in three different steps – from slow, beautiful shifts in perspective to dramatic crash-zoom effects. Zoom can also be controlled directly from compatible NEX-VG900, NEX-VG30 and NEX-FS700 (requires firmware update) video cameras.

The new lens also has built-in Optical SteadyShot™, which cuts the effects of camera shake and minimizes camera blur while shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds. Additionally, Active Mode further enhances stabilization at the wide end of the 11x zoom range ensuring smooth, stable footage even if the shooter is in motion.

The new E 20mm F2.8 (SEL20F28) wide-angle prime lens will be available this April for about $350.

The new E PZ18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS (SELP18200) motorized telezoom lens will be available this March for about $1200.

    The HTC One VX

    What you should know:
The HTC One VX certainly speaks the same design language as the company's other current handsets. In style you can think of it as a cross between the HTC One X+ and older HTC One S. The phone is sculpted from similar rounded curves, with a familiar flat, oval shape and minimalist aesthetic.
Unlike the One S, however, the One VX is crafted from lightweight plastic and not carved from a single block of aluminum. The One VX isn't molded from premium polycarbonate like the One X and One X+ are, either. That gives the phone a less expensive look and feel, though faux silver accents around the screen bezel and a clean white cover on the back lend the device some sophistication.
Measuring 5.3 inches tall by 2.7 inches wide and just 0.36 inch thick, the One VX is small enough to fit in the hand or slide into tight pockets. At 4.4 ounces, the phone won't weigh you down either, but has enough heft to feel substantial.
    Source

    What it offers:
It may not be a fire-breathing superphone, but the HTC One VX offers plenty of Android goodness for under $50.
    The advantage:
The affordable HTC One VX for AT&T serves up a modern Android OS, a dual-core processor, and a feature-rich camera. The phone also delivers rock-solid call quality and long battery life.
    The unfavorable:
The HTC One VX lacks quad-core processing and a removable battery.
    The price:
    $29.99 to $49.99

    The Acer Iconia W510

    What you should know:
The idea of a touch-screen slate running a full Windows operating system that can instantly transform into a working laptop is an appealing one. In practice, the slate part of the W510 is well-built and responsive, and the hinge that connects the two halves is easy to use and secure.
But, the keyboard half (which contains an additional battery) is too light, making the entire thing top-heavy and prone to tipping over. Adding to my usability concerns, $750 only gets you a 64GB SSD hard drive (with about half that space free after OS and software overhead), and the tablet half has connections -- Micro-HDMI, microSD, and Micro-USB -- that are only useful if you walk around with a pocketful of adapters.

    What it offers:
Offering low-powered Intel Atom tablet/laptop hybrids for $750 or more is a dodgy proposition for budget-looking systems such as the Iconia W510, but all-day battery life is a great selling point.
    The advantage:
The Acer Iconia W510 is less expensive than some other Atom-based hybrids, and its detachable tablet screen is light and portable. Battery life is excellent.
    The unfavorable:
In laptop mode, the system is awkwardly top-heavy, and the puny keyboard and touch pad are not designed for serious use.
    The price:
    $599.99

Kim Dotcom has new file-sharing site

Mega, a web-based service that lets people upload and store files of any kind, is a sequel to the Megaupload system that was shut down last January.
Police raids on the offices and home of Kim Dotcom led to the closure of Megaupload.
The Mega site went online on Sunday, followed by a lavish launch party held at Mr Dotcom's New Zealand mansion.
Mr Dotcom, who was born Kim Schmitz, has said the new site complies with the law and warned that attempts to take it down would be futile.
"This is not some kind of finger to the US government or to Hollywood," he said on Saturday.
"Legally, there's just nothing there that could be used to shut us down. This site is just as legitimate and has the right to exist as Dropbox, Boxnet and other competitors."Extradition hearing
Hours after the site was launched, Mr Dotcom tweeted that it had received 250,000 user registrations, although limited server capacity meant Mega was unreachable to many.
In a series of earlier tweets Mr Dotcom said every customer would have 50 gigabytes of free storage - far more than is offered by rival services such as Dropbox or Microsoft's SkyDrive.
Data is also being held in the cloud to make it easy for users to get and share files.Mega will be encrypted so only those who upload data have access to it.

Facebook unveiled a new search tool

Friends, places, interests and photos will be the foundation for queries when the search engine launches, Facebook said. For example, Facebook explained how Graph Search could be used to find "My friends who live in Palo Alto who like Game of Thrones," "Indian restaurants liked by my friends from India" or "Photos of my friends taken in Paris." Singles looking to meet people could search "Friends of friends who are single men in San Francisco." Someone trying to remember a person she'd met at a friend's party the evening before could query, "People named Drew who are friends of Peter and went to Harvard." The new search tool will occupy prime real estate at the top of all Facebook pages.

Zuckerberg emphasized that Graph Search will respect users' existing privacy settings -- people searching will only see content that has been shared with them -- and noted that Facebook has added an alert to users' News Feeds asking them to review their privacy preferences before the search tool is launched.

Graph Search will initially be available only to "tens of thousands" of users, according to the Financial Times, but will launch publicly within the next few months.

    The LG's midrange LA6900

    LG had come out with a new television technology that has the following features;
    • The LA6900 has "natural language" voice control via the new Magic Motion remote, which means you don't have to utter some robotic command before looking for what you want.
    • The LG has featured an edge-lit LED with local dimming, and it is the last model in the range to do dimming -- all the models below it are edge or direct only.
    • The TV also halves the reported 240Hz refresh rate of the higher-end models for a 120Hz rate but still retains passive 3D capability.
    • LG's Smart TV platform will also get an update with a customizable dashboard via the new "My Interest Cards" -- a set of folders you can fill with your favorite apps. LG has also boosted sharing capabilities from tablets and smartphones with WiDi (Intel) and the new Miracast (Android) allowing wireless screen sharing.
    • The TVs also have an improved content recommendation engine called On Now that suggests content from on-demand and cable and satellite services via pop-up thumbnail images.

What is Game Addiction and how to Control it?

Game addiction is conceptualised in Western countries as a compulsion or set of aberrant behaviours that occur when a user is focused on playing games via computers, consoles, wearable computers, or mobile devices. The games may vary as much as the hardware, with popular genres including First Person Shooters, App-oriented Social Games (such as those produced by companies like Zynga), MMOGs and MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games/Role Playing Games), Strategy Games and Transmedia/Alternate Reality Games.

In an article in The American Journal of Psychiatry, author Jerald Block outlines the following set of criteria to help define game addiction:
    1. excessive use, often associated with a loss of sense of time or a neglect of basic drives
    2. withdrawal, including feelings of anger, tension, and/or depression when the computer is inaccessible
    3. tolerance, including the need for better computer equipment, more software, or more hours of use
    4. negative repercussions, including arguments, lying, poor achievement, social isolation, and fatigue.
    How to Control it?
There is no simple, single way of ‘controlling’ or ‘treating’ 21st century problems such as internet addiction or video game addiction. Only a full, open and informed discussion by all stakeholders (parents, schools, opinion leaders, games & tech companies, teenagers) will have a lasting impact on this challenging problem. A purely ‘mental health’ perspective is insufficient; also taking account of social, evolutionary, technological, educational and increasingly political and philosophical factors will be imperative.

    Be careful with http://www.faceboourk.com

A lot of us are eager to open our Facebook account without minding some little changes in our screens. Identify the difference between the first two pictures below and see what they require in the third and fourth picture. So be careful, because you might be the next victim.

Once users have given "Faceboourk" their Facebook login credentials, phone numbers and credit cards, the site's work is done. It takes them to the real Facebook login page, stealing their personally identifiable information and dumping them at Facebook's front door in one seamless motion.

Scams like this aren't new or uncommon, but this one's level of sophistication and lack of spelling mistakes makes it especially noteworthy.
