The product:
The 11.6-inch 1920x1080 display has excellent off-axis viewing and bright, clear colors, but it wasn't as overall impressive as the Surface Pro's display, which transcended the average laptop display and entered iPad Retina territory. This Samsung is far better than most laptops, however, the extra pixel density for both reading and desktop real estate is appreciated.
Front and rear cameras offer better resolution than the Surface Pro's 720p offerings, at 2MP for the front-facing shooter and 5MP for the rear one, but neither was especially speedy, and both exhibited a lot of noise.
What it offers:
The Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T walks the line between ultrabook-level laptop and tablet, but doesn’t truly excel at either.
The advantage:
Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T hybrid is a fast, full-powered Core i5 tablet, has a 1080p screen, comes with its own keyboard base, and includes the pressure-sensitive S-Pen that’s very accurate and responsive.
The unfavorable:
Battery life isn't great for a tablet; it lacks laptop-style features like Ethernet and a standard SD card slot; plus, it’s even more expensive than the Surface Pro.
The price:
$1,139.25 to $1,790.66
