The Explorer Sport is powered by a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine with at least 350 horsepower that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Ford didn’t just stop there, the Explorer Sport also gets stiffer chassis and a faster power steering system for more responsiveness. Ford also added larger brakes for shorter stopping distances and better performance while towing.
The difference of Explorer Sport from the other Explorer models, Ford gave it unique 20-inch wheels, blacked out headlights and taillights, side view mirror skull caps and black roof rack rails. The Explorer Sport’s face gets a special grille with a low-gloss Sterling Gray mesh, with contrasting ebony high-gloss bars. Inside charcoal black leather-trimmed seating is available with and without contrasting sienna inserts. The stitching on the leather seats is emphasized to lend a handcrafted appearance while highlighting Explorer Sport’s sculptured seats.
