Find out if this Wi-Fi router is for you.
The Linksys EA6500 is a mixed bag. On one hand, it was much faster than its cousin at short distances on the 5GHz band, but at longer range, it's not that impressive. The router's firmware also seems buggy, and is the instability of its 5GHz band, defeating the router's supposedly biggest improvement over the previous model: the 802.11ac support, which only works on this band. The router also slowed down the connection to the Internet.
Unfortunately, at around $200, the EA6500 is one of the most expensive routers, if not the most, on the market.
The advantage: The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router AC 1750 HD Video Pro EA6500 is good-looking and very fast at short distances, and offers lots of cloud-based features.
The unfavorable: The Linksys EA6500 has a lot of performance and connectivity problems. It's also very expensive.
The offer: The Linksys EA6500 has the potential to be a great router, but for now it'd still be a bad deal even at half its current price.
